The first Web3 non-profit is in Tampa, FL!

The first Web3 non-profit org in Florida to obtain 501c3 status has been established by the Tampa Bay DAO(TBD). As of 9-12-22, the Tampa Bay Web3 Foundation has officially become the first Web3 non-profit organization in FL. We are still googling other Web3 non-profits but coming up empty.

Why be a non-profit?

Everything we have done in the past has been free for the community, so why not? TBD has been staying true to its core tenant, bringing locals together and having a meaningful connection. Whether through Web3 education classes, workshops, artist meetups, whiteboard sessions, or simply having game nights at HQ, our goal will always and forever be about community.

So what’s the mission of this foundation?

Our mission is to equip the local developers in the Tampa Bay area with the skillset, knowledge, and tools needed to create a lasting impact in the emerging Web3 space.

But why Developers?

Over the past several years, the information technology industry has been steadily growing in Florida, with Tampa being one of the top 10 emerging tech cities in America. Not only that, but we have seen an enormous surge and the adoption of cryptocurrencies and tech globally. This is why we want to take the time and tap into our local developer community and bring them all together and educate them on Web3, tooling, and opportunities that await them.

We have a unique opportunity to empower developers to be as versatile as ever in traditional development and the newly emerging space. As a collective, we should not only strike while the iron is hot but keep striking to keep it hot for future generations to come, keeping the Tampa Bay area in the top spot in not only America but the world.

What are our next steps?

Our next step is simple: connecting and partnering with local boot camps, meetups, and colleges. By doing so, we can start facilitating more hackathons and, one day, developer conferences.

If you are a developer, or part of a developer group, in the Tampa Bay area and is interested in future workshops, hackathon, and events, send a message to @germany in our Discord.

We are now accepting donations in both crypto and traditional payments! The funds will be for future mentors/ teachers, workshops, and events.
